Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef short ribs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan and sear the short ribs on all sides.
  2. Transfer ribs to the crockpot.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan, sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour beef broth, soy sauce, and brown sugar into the pan, stir well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the crockpot over the ribs.
  6. Cook on low for 8 hours.
  7. Remove ribs and skim fat from the sauce before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add carrots and potatoes in the last 2 hours.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer less salt.
