A simple and delicious homemade orange chicken recipe that you can easily make at home. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a weekend treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, coat the chicken pieces with cornstarch, then dip them in the beaten eggs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, red pepper flakes, and orange zest. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
- Return the chicken to the pan and toss to coat evenly with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot over rice.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double-fry the chicken.
- Adjust the red pepper flakes to control the spiciness.
- Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor.
