Description

Make delicious butter chicken at home with this simple recipe. Tender chicken in a rich, creamy tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast, cubed
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 can (400g) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, and chili powder for 30 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a pan. Cook onion until soft.
  3. Add garlic and ginger. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add marinated chicken. Cook until no longer pink.
  5. Stir in tomato puree. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Add cream, sugar, and salt. Cook for 5 more minutes.
  7. Garnish with cilantro. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate chicken overnight.
  • Adjust chili powder to control spiciness.
  • Serve with naan or rice.
