Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, water, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add broken lasagna noodles and simmer for 10-12 minutes until noodles are tender.
  5. Reduce heat to low, stir in heavy cream, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese until melted.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey for a lighter version.
